How to be the best dressed this summer?

Floral dresses are very romantic and are very often worn with attending weddings, but now you can match them to the dress code. They’re everywhere on the high street, which means there’s one for every body type, age and budget. Although they were declared out of fashion last year, they are back in fashion this season. This proves it’s impossible to hold back a good trend, especially when it’s so prevalent.

My dress closet is filled with ultra-feminine florals: floral print Ghost; ruffled Rixo; bubble-sleeved Ganni. a friend’s wedding is coming up in a few weeks. However, what I feel was once a delightful floral dress suddenly feels too feminine for the occasion!

Since becoming a mother, my closet has felt nothing but simple and relaxed. This feeling is only exacerbated by the fashion world’s current focus on 90’s minimalism and all things ‘understated chic’.

I’m not the only one who wants to change her wedding look. On fashion rental platform HURR, searches for “wedding guest style” are up 126% year-over-year. However, while floral dresses remain a staple, tailoring is growing in popularity and suits are now one of the most sought-after styles.

Brands are also reacting to this shift in sentiment. Most people know a floral dress brand, but increasingly there is a desire to offer a more versatile option.

Whether it’s a silk shirt and pants set or a pajama-style dress, pajamas have an effortlessly luxurious feel as party wear. The trick to making it look intentional is to choose luxurious fabrics and fitted styles. Keep cotton fabrics to a minimum and use more satin and silk in draped silhouettes.

Accessories also enhance glamor – now’s the time to wipe the dust off your lace-up heels and big earrings. Wear sturdy underwear. Nice tights will make you feel more formal and provide a smooth silhouette to the tight fabric.
