I personally like instant noodles. But I definitely don’t love it as much as the little girl in the ad campaign crying tears of joy when she receives spicy buldak carbonara as a birthday present. It also makes me wonder, why is her spice tolerance so high? Because even though the buldak carbonara is not as spicy as regular hot chicken buldak, it is still very spicy!
Buldak Carbonara is an instant noodle flavor. It is part of a ramen series featuring super spicy ramen. The buldak Carbonara flavor comes in a pink pouch with a cute drawing of a hot chicken. I think the pink color indicates that it is less spicy than the fiery red 2x spicy buldak. Essentially, it’s a hot and spicy chicken ramen, but with a bacon-egg noodle-inspired sauce that’s creamy thanks to the extra little packet of cheese.
How to make homemade buldak bacon egg noodles
If you don’t have access to Samyang buldak Carbonara and want to try it yourself, you can make your own at home!
First gather your ingredients. It’s not as easy as opening a packet of ready-made buldak Carbonara, but you’ll have to do some preparation stuff. You’ll need some ramen noodles, chili sauce, soy sauce, sugar, chicken powder, garlic powder, black pepper, 1 egg yolk, powdered milk and freshly grated parmesan cheese.
Then the second step of mixing. Combine the chili sauce, soy sauce, sugar, chicken powder, garlic powder, pepper, milk powder, parmesan cheese and one egg yolk in a bowl. Stir until everything is mixed together and set aside.
Step 3 Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook your choice of pasta according to the ingredients on the package. Reserve 1/2 cup of the hot pasta water, then drain the pasta.
Step 4 Stir. Add 1/4 cup of the hot pasta water to the bowl with the sauce. Stir it all together until smooth.
Step 5 Add the sauce to the pan with the pasta, stirring and mixing until the sauce is glossy and covers and sticks to the pasta, adding the hot pasta water and loosening the sauce little by little if needed. When the pasta is nice and flavorful, remove it from the heat
As you ladle the noodles into bowls or eat them right out of the pan, it’s time to start enjoying eating spicy food!
